Breast augmentation is a common procedure whereby the breasts are increased to the desired fullness or volume using silicone or saline-filled implants.
During the procedure, an incision is placed in one of three locations – under the breast in the inframammary fold,
under the areola, or in the axilla (armpit). The implant is placed under the breast tissue and on top of or under the pectoralis muscle.
The determination regarding incision locations and implant placement will be made during the consult with Dr. Abdullah.
Breast augmentation is performed under local anesthesia with IV sedation or under general anesthesia in an outpatient facility.
Following the procedure, patients may experience swelling and discoloration that lasts two to four weeks, at which point normal activities may be resumed.
