About Your Initial Consultation
For out-of-town patients, plastic surgery can either have a virtual consultation or an in-person one with our top-rated plastic surgeon and doctor. For a virtual consultation, we ask that you send us photos for Dr. Ahmed Abdullah to review:

About Your Procedure
Your recovery time depends on the type of procedure you’re having. We’ll discuss in detail what you can expect for the initial recovery period and follow-up care beforehand, but here’s a brief explanation for several types of surgical procedures.
Breast Surgeries & Procedures
Breast augmentations, lifts, reductions, and reconstructions are outpatient surgical procedures. The typical initial recovery period is one week. Immediately following the day of surgery, you may experience pain and swelling at the surgical site, but this is expected. To ensure proper healing and minimize pain, we’ll provide aftercare instructions, schedule a post-op visit as well as arrange for several follow-up visits.
Tummy Tuck
Recovery from abdominoplasty (also known as a tummy tuck) usually takes three to four weeks. Since most patients experience grogginess from the anesthesia, we advise that you have a caretaker for at least the first 24 hours. We’ll schedule a follow-up appointment a few days after your procedure.
Gender Reassignment Surgery
Patients who undergo gender reassignment surgery typically need help with basic tasks for the first day but can begin to walk by the second. You’ll have several follow-up appointments and should be cleared to return home by the ninth day. However, it may take up to three weeks to see improvement at the surgical site after this reconstructive procedure.
Face Lift
Recovery time from a facelift generally takes several weeks, though you’ll be healed enough to do basic tasks after a few days. After this cosmetic procedure, we recommend having a caretaker for the first 24 hours, as the grogginess from the anesthesia takes a while to wear off.
Liposuction
Most patients can resume daily activities a week after this outpatient procedure, though swelling may take several weeks to abate fully. Our clinic requires several follow-up appointments for a physical examination to ensure you’re healing correctly. For the first 72 hours, you should have a caretaker to assist with everyday activities.
Travel Information
So, how should you get to Tampa, and where will you stay for your recovery? Since your mobility may be limited after surgical procedures, it’s essential to finalize these details beforehand.
While many out-of-town patients’ getting plastic surgery procedures to travel with a loved one, it’s no problem if you plan to come alone. We can arrange for a caretaker to help you with a variety of tasks during days of surgery recovery:

- Prescription pickup

Airport & Transportation
For maximum convenience, it’s best to make travel arrangements both to and from Tampa in advance. If you’re out of state, the fastest option is to fly. Once you’re in Tampa, you have a variety of transportation options.
Tampa International Airport
The Tampa International Airport is the closest airport to our office and is only 30 minutes away. It has many resources for travelers, including restaurants, shopping, and transportation options.
