Laser for spider veins is a procedure using laser technology to reduce the appearance of spider veins located throughout the face and/or body. It can also help remedy the painful symptoms associated with leg veins including aching, burning, swelling, and night cramps. Most treatments are accomplished in 15-30 minute visits. You have a 40% chance of resolution with one treatment, more treatments will be required for a better reduction. During your first appointment, you will provide a thorough medical history. In addition, you will be examined and your suitability for treatment will be evaluated. At treatment sessions, a laser light will be applied to the areas of skin containing the unwanted spider veins. Some individuals may experience mild discomfort during the procedure that can last up to 48 hours after the treatment session. It is common for local swelling and slight bruising to appear at the site of treated veins. Some darkening or lightening of the skin called post inflammatory hyperpigmentation which is temporary, or hypopigmentation may occur. It is absolutely mandatory that the patient wear compression stockings 24 hours a day for three to five days following the treatment to assist in the recovery of this and to reduce revascularization of the treated veins.

General Guidelines to follow:

• Please avoid sun tanning or sunless tanning creams prior to treatment.
• Application of a full strength sunblock is recommended to all areas that are treated by laser, post treatment.
• Please remove all surface hair over leg veins or any other areas to be treated by shaving the skin prior to treatment.
• Please be aware that test spots may be performed with the laser to determine the safest energy setting to produce the best results for your skin type.
